Dinner Party – Starters

Hot and Sour Pickled Prawns


Hot and Sour Pickled Prawns

King prawns marinated in a lemon, lime, pepper and onion mix. Served with crusty bread to soak up all those juices

Home-made Soup
Tomato, Mushroom, Lentil, curried Parsnip, French Onion, Minestrone … or your own choice

Asparagus Tarts
Individual short pastry tarts dressed salad garnish with a home-made chutney

Mushroom Pate
Served with onion marmalade and melba toast

Greek Salad
The classic – tomatoes, onions, cucumber, peppers, feta cheese – topped with fresh herbs and black olives

Stilton Stuffed Flat Mushrooms
Locally produced blue cheese in a flat mushroom, grilled and served with crusty bread and garlicky butter

Risotto alla Milanese


Vegetable Kurma

From South India, a vegetable curry with coconut and cashews
Spicy Lentil Dhal
Lemon Rice and a tomato chutney.

Mixed Fish Pie
Four kinds of fish, including Salmon and Prawns, bound in a deliciously flavoured white sauce, topped with buttery mashed potato
Presented with a selection of vegetables.

Lasagne
Traditional beef, roast veg and cottage cheese or seafood and tomato.
Served with lovely fresh salads, eg, tomato & Mozzarella, Caesar, mixed bean and pepper.

Risotto alla Milanese
Onion, garlic and parmesan cheese in this rich rice dish.
Served with roast cherry tomatoes and roast cabbage.

Roast Beef Dinner
With all the trimmings ….. Yorkshire pudds, roast potatoes, gravy, vegetable selection, horseradish sauce

Coq au Vin
Served with baked tomatoes, green veg and buttered new potatoes.

Mixed Nut Roast
Onion sauce, potatoes gratin dauphinoise and a selection of vegetables.


Puddings

Chocolate Roulade

Chocolate sponge, chocolate mousse and fresh whipped cream – all rolled up.

Lemon Tart
Short pastry case housing a refreshing and tangy set filling.

Very Sherry Trifle (vegetarian – no gelatine used).
Fruit pieces set in sherry jelly and sponge base, topped with custard and vanilla cream.

Key Lime Pie
Ginger biscuit crumb base with a sharp lime filling, topped with fresh cream and dark chocolate pieces.

Tiramisu (contains raw egg)
A delicious Italian dessert, a combination of sweetened mascarpone, coffee liqueur, coffee soaked sponge fingers, eggs.

Cheese board
A selection of local and not so local cheeses, from The Old Cheese Shop in Hartington.

Fresh Fruit Salad
Any number of fresh fruit pieces in a sugar syrup

Chocolate Profiteroles
Choux pastry buns filled with pastry cream and covered in chocolate sauce (or butterscotch sauce).

Steamed syrup pudding
Surely a queen of puddings. Served with custard, or cream.
